Yep, you're right - it is a sonic screwdriver -- specifically, the 10th Doctor's. Whovians rejoice!! (Not a sonic screwdriver, exactly, it's more of a sonic wand. Doesn't "avada kedavra," doesn't "crucio," doesn't "stupefy." But I'll tell you what it does do -- it is very good at "alohomora." It casts spells with one end and opens doors with the other!)
Unfortunately this wand has already been sold -- However: I'm planning a limited run of miniature 7" versions complete with the box and can also double as a Christmas ornament, so be on the lookout for that!
There's a lot of symbolism in this wand. I've labeled it as "yew," "phoenix tail feather," 10". Yes, it's nearly the same as Voldy's, but it does make sense. Yew is associated with birth and death, as is the life cycle of the phoenix, which is exemplified in the Doctor's regenerations. 10" is a reference to a few things: 1. the wand is based on the 10th Doctor's sonic screwdriver, 2. The Tenth Doctor was played by David TENnant, and 3. David Tennant's nickname was said on a British talk show to be "David Ten-inch." Yeah. [Someone suggested that I could have sent it to David as a fan-gift!]
It was hand-whittled from a wood dowel (species unknown), sanded with 100, 150, 300, and 600 grit sandpaper, hand-painted with acrylics, stained with cherry minwax stain, and finished with an acrylic varnish.

Dr. Who meets Harry Potter. Great idea.
